The New Orleans Film Society and the Contemporary Arts Center present: EASIER WITH PRACTICE

Nominated for Best First Feature and Someone to Watch Award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards. In an attempt to promote his unpublished novel, Davy Mitchell sets out on a road trip with his younger, looser brother, Sean. However, the idealism of being on the road wears off quickly as the trip proves to be a lonely and unfulfilling experience for Davy whose discordant relationship with his brother seems impossible to reconcile.

Aïda Ruilova: The Singles 1999 - Now


Combining classical cinematic devices with a distinctively jarring, low-tech sensibility, New York-based artist Aïda Ruilova creates dark, narrative video work. Aïda Ruilova: The Singles 1999 - Now presents a survey of the artist's single-channel video work since 1999. Ruilova is one of a young generation of artists who employ media in innovative ways with a do-it-yourself aesthetic, often drawing upon contexts - like cinema, music, and popular culture - that exist outside the art world.

HARRY SHEARER: The Silent Echo Chamber


HARRY SHEARER: THE SILENT ECHO CHAMBER is a multi-screen video installation by the award-winning American comedic actor, writer, musician, and radio host best known for his regular Saturday Night Live appearances, for his role as Rob Tuffnal in This is Spinal Tap, and for providing many voices for the popular television series The Simpsons. The Silent Echo Chamber is the newest video work by Shearer, and is presented on nine plasma monitors.
