Mission and Guidelines
What is the CAC Teen Board?
The CAC Teen Board is group of art-focused New Orleans teenagers who meet regularly to participate in spreading arts education and appreciation. Teen Board members create and develop several outreach projects in a number of disciplines to foster the development of the New Orleans teen population.
What is the CAC Teen Board's Mission?
The CAC Teen Board's mission is to promote teens' cultural development by enabling them to become leading components in their own arts education. This program will encourage them to be active members of our rich cultural community by connecting them with local artists and facilitating a number of group outreach projects.
How is the CAC Teen Board Organized?
The CAC Teen Board is broken into different committees based on a discipline. Each committee is in charge of producing and promoting a project. The CAC Teen Board as a collective decides what proposed projects to do and provides input and aid on committee projects. Committees should plan to host one hour meetings to inform the rest of the board on the progress of their project. These meetings can also be in the form of a workshop or as an organized time period to receive help completing the committee's project.
When Does the CAC Teen Board Meet?
The CAC Teen Board meets on Saturday from 1-3PM twice a month through June 2010. Please refer to the programming outline for specific dates. Teen board committees are expected to arrange additional meeting times.
What is the Expected Time Commitment?
The CAC Teen Board expects members to attend all meetings. If a member is unable to attend a meeting he/she should notify Marie Lamb (mlamb@cacno.org) prior to the meeting. It is also important that members respond to Teen Board emails and other forms of communication.
Will CAC Teen Board members receive volunteer credit for their schools?
Members will receive volunteer hours for attending meetings (general and committee) and CAC Teen Board activities or events.
What are the duties of CAC Teen Board members?
Teen Board members should:
Be active in implementing the Teen Board's mission to promote arts education and appreciation to the New Orleans teen population.
Committees should do this by advertising for their teen board events and activities. (Any advertisement made for a teen board event or activity needs to be approved by Marie Lamb before distribution).
