9pm - Midnight

Banging and Drumming of all sorts, including Jazz, African Drums, Drumlines, and more. Featuring the Wild Magnolias, Bamboula 2000, and Moyuba.

Wild Magnolias
Too young to drink, but old enough to lead his own gang when he first started out, Big Chief Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias have been one of the most popular and colorful gangs of New Orleans since the late 1960s, and they continue to preserve the age old New Orleans tradition of Mardi Gras Indians paying homage to Native Americans. In addition to parading through the streets of New Orleans every Mardi Gras and Jazz Fest, they also have had the privilege of making appearances across Europe, Japan and the world.

Bamboula 2000
Evoking the word Bamboula conjures up images of exotic West African, Caribbean and New Orleans ritualistic dancing and drumming performed two hundred years ago. One of the most significant dances and rhythms in the African diaspora, the Bamboula functioned as a cultural bridge between Africa and the Caribbean during the slave trade. Today, the syncopation of the Bamboula can be heard in the voodoo rhythms of Haiti, zouk music of Martinique, the calypso of Trinidad, dance hall music of Jamaica, and in the second-lines and Mardi Gras rhythms of New Orleans

Moyuba
Percussionist Michael Skinkus founded the group MOYUBA in 2002 in order to create a new interpretation of Afro-Cuban music in a modern jazz context. The musical compositions by MOYUBA are inspired by and derived from the traditional chants and percussion of Cuban Santería, a syncretic religious order that originated from the Yoruba, or Lucumí of West Africa. MOYUBA has created original compositions inspired by traditional Santería chants, thus transporting these ancient melodies into a 21st century jazz context. Through this fusion, the ancient meets the future in the music of Michael Skinkus and MOYUBA.
