Hannibal Lokumbe at Work

And Their Voices Cry Freedom Again brings the audience on a journey through Hannibal Lokumbe’s work within, and inspired by, the New Orleans community. With a central focus on his residencies at the Contemporary Arts Center, which began in 1999 and continue today, this exhibition illuminates Hannibal’s visionary endeavors to build community through collaboration on multidisciplinary performances that engage visual artists, musicians, and cultural bearers among others. Presented in connection with Hannibal’s performance at the CAC, visitors will engage with musical compositions, poetry, documentation, and artifacts of Hannibal’s projects and performances that initiate healing through the arts.

On Friday, March 1 & Saturday, March 2, Hannibal Lokumbe will perform select works from his residencies at the Contemporary Arts Center.

Art Lab is the CAC’s new year-round education gallery.
